Gottfried Grasser 's motorsports team, which is based near Red Bull Ring, can look back on its most successful season so far. Showing tremendous commitment and high motivation, the Austrians contested two racing series this season. They claimed 22 podium finishes including 12 victories, six second and four third places. A total of 12 drivers battled for points for themselves as well as for their team in the Blancpain Sprint Series and in the Blancpain Super Trofeo.
Grasser Racing achieved the most success in the international Blancpain Sprint Series, which was held at seven weekends at European circuits and one Asian racetrack. The highlight for the team was the British round at Brands Hatch in May. The two race drivers, Jeroen Bleekemolen (NLD) and Hari Proczyk (AUT), at the wheel of the Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 claimed the victory in both the qualifying race and the main race. The two drivers also took the win in one race both at Zandvoort and in Portugal and secured four additional podium finishes throughout the season, always prevailing over the strong competition. They claimed a fantastic third place in the overall standings at the end of the season. The results in the qualifying sessions were just as phenomenal. The Gize Lamborghini always secured at least the third place on the starting grid for the race.
The team also scored the runner-up title in the ProAm Trophy category of the same series with their second Gallardo. The two Austrian drivers, Stefan Landmann and Sascha Halek, won one race at Zandvoort and claimed several podium finishes at other rounds.
The team contested the Blancpain Super Trofeo with the drivers Gerhard Tweraser, Sandro Bickel, Tomas Pivoda, Ronald Hölling, Sascha Halek, Alberto Cerqui, Daniel Hiqmar, Fairuz Fauzuy and Giovanni Venturini. They took part in different line-ups and different categories in the five rounds of the series as well as at the World Final in Sepang (Malaysia). The team took the second place in the ProAm category in the European championship and at the World Final in Sepang (Malaysia).
Team Principal Gottfried Grasser: “This season was incredible. When we decided to contest the fantastic Blancpain Sprint Series we would never have expected to be able to keep up with and even prevail over the big and renowned teams with very strong race drivers. We had two very good driver line-ups in the cars. They did an amazing job. We also did well in the Blancpain Super Trofeo and we were always able to rely on our race drivers.
The REITER Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 vehicles, provided by Hans Reiter, which we used in the Blancpain Series, were always reliable and have a high stability. We had a lot of fun working with these cars and Reiter Engineering in the past three years.
However, this success was only possible because I could always rely on my fantastic team. Each and every one was always highly motivated and ready to give their best. This enabled us to always be at the top throughout this busy year. I would like to thank everybody for doing a phenomenal job, and I hope that everyone will be happy to work with us in the future and that we continue to achieve great success together.
I would also like to thank our sponsors, partners, fans and friends who were loyal to us throughout the season.”
The Grasser Racing Team is already working on the preparations for the upcoming season. It has already been confirmed that they will contest the international Blancpain GT Series with two GT3 vehicles. They will also take part in the Asian Blancpain Super Trofeo. More exciting news will be announced at the beginning of next year.
